Invincible Vs. Announced: Killer Instinct Veterans Take on the Invincible Universe

The Invincible universe is coming to fighting games, and the team behind it may be the most qualified in the business to deliver. Invincible Vs. has been officially announced by Quarter Up — a new studio staffed by veterans of the beloved Killer Instinct reboot — targeting a April 30, 2026 launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Based on Robert Kirkman's hit Image Comics series and its acclaimed Amazon Prime Video adaptation, Invincible Vs. brings the universe's most powerful brawlers together in a 3v3 tag-team fighting format. The confirmed roster includes Mark Grayson (Invincible), Omni-Man, Atom Eve, Rex Splode, and several fan-favorite villains — with the full character count still under wraps ahead of launch.

The game's DNA is unmistakably rooted in Killer Instinct. The development team includes alumni of Double Helix Games and Iron Galaxy Studios, and the gameplay footage released with the announcement carries that fingerprint: flashy combo systems, fluid character transitions, and what appears to be a breakaway mechanic that allows tagged partners to intervene mid-combo — a feature that has the fighting game community particularly excited about its competitive potential.

"We wanted to capture the pure physical brutality of the Invincible comics," said Quarter Up's creative director during the announcement stream. "Mark gets hit so hard his face comes off. Omni-Man punches through buildings. We wanted that energy in every single exchange." The trailer delivers on that promise: characters ragdoll across the screen, environments shatter in real time, and one sequence appears to show a fighter launched into actual orbit.

The visual style bridges the gap between the comics' bold ink-work and the animated series' cleaner lines, landing on something distinctly its own. Character animations are notably expressive — a critical detail in a genre where readable body language underpins competitive play. The UI is minimal and clean, letting the action speak without visual clutter.

Invincible Vs. launches April 30 with a Day One Edition that includes bonus characters Conquest and Shapesmith as launch DLC. A closed beta is expected in mid-to-late April. For fighting game fans and Invincible devotees alike, this one goes directly to the top of the wishlist.
